Tin litho toy has 5" square base with 8" arms extending out which each contain 1.5x1.25" car. No maker but toy is marked "Foreign" so most likely this was made in Japan for the English or Australian markets. 1950s. Beautiful box depicts toy in motion on top and two long sides. Box has 1.5" tear on one side panel, few light creases. Still displays VF. Toy has somewhat elaborate motion using raised sides of the base to cause the cars to ride up and down on the shafts as well as revolve while music plays. Neat action. Middle of toy has 3 hard plastic balloons on wires as depicted on lid. Great lithography all over toy. Base includes scenes of regular merry go round, train, race cars. Raised sides of base depict children in swing ride, in airplane as well as in spaceship and flying saucer. First we've seen this interesting carnival ride wind-up toy.
