Item Description
10x15.5x3.5" deep box holds complete set of six hard plastic planes ranging in size from 4" long with 5" wingspan to 7" long with 9" wingspan. This set was made from 1952-1954. Box features interesting graphics including aircraft carrier depicted on lid and airport scenes depicted on three front and two side panels. Has both inside lid and bottom inserts which show sky with clouds and runway scene. Front is die-cut to resemble airport arrival terminal. Box shows moderate wear with tears to top lid along front edge and 1" into area but not affecting image. Interior flaps also show loss and one has 7" tear repaired with tape. Die-cut front of box also has wear plus tear repaired with tape. Box overall VG. Plane conditions are as follows: B-29 Super Fortress, few decal flakes on wing decals, VF.; P-38 Lightning, a decal chip on one of the decals, VF.; P-40 Curtiss War Hawk, Exc.; Flying Fortress Bomber, one tiny machine gun barrel is off at front, VF.; Martin Mars Flying Boat is Exc.; DC-4 Transport Plane is also Exc. An interesting set and hard to find with all planes present.
