Item Description
9" dia. vitreous china plate by Edwin M. Knowles China Co., also marked "All Rights Reserved Star Players Photo Co. Chicago." c. 1920. Plate features nice sepia-toned photo image of a young Chaplin which has color tints to the cheeks and lips. Facsimile signature appears below image. In addition to main portrait image, smaller 1" tall image of Chaplin's famous Little Tramp character also appears. Plate has gold accent band at edge and again surrounding photo images. Floral band design. From a series of plates featuring silent film stars of the era. See lot #1212. Normal and typical all-over craze lines and scattered moderate aging to white areas. Fine. Scarce.
