Item numbers 976 though 2670 in auction 196
Item Description
Litho tin and metal toy is 6.5" long by 4" tall plus a 5" hanger wire suspending a 1.5" square weight. No maker's mark but of American manufacture c. 1910. Wheels are grooved to rest on a tight string and the figure has riveted joints at arms and legs allowing it to move as if peddling the toy as it moves across the string. There is additional wire w/loop to provide a steadying effect and keep the bear on the string. Bear is designed as a Roosevelt bear wearing pinz-nez eyeglasses plus green vest and red coat. Paint on bear is bright and glossy w/just one 1/8" square of missing paint. Rest of toy done in natural tin and metal finishes in Exc. shape. Painted tin arms and legs have a small bit of spidering and a few scratches. The hanger wire and weight are also original. VF. A great toy from the height of Theodore Roosevelt's popularity.
