Item Description
9" long. 1850s-1860s Civil War era. English. Mother-of-pearl handled Dirk or spear-point Bowie knife. Looks to be nickel silvered fittings. Blade has a ft. but unreadable scroll and possibly patriotic slogan often featured on these knives. Carried by both Union and Confederate troops, these European knives were imported by the thousands. This knife has original sheath (missing end tip cap). Handle is nice w/no cracks or chips. Blade has darkened. Some lt. pitting. Tang is stamped "Manson Sheffield," a desirable early English blade maker. Sheath is Good, knife is Fine.
