Auction #196 - Part II
Item numbers 976 though 2670 in auction 196
Item Description
2.25" highly-domed celluloid with crisp real photo without dot pattern showing the movie's apparent male and young female stars in foreground with numerous men and a couple of liquor bottles far in the bkg. on a shelf. Apparently this is the "Bar Room" referenced in the title. The full text on the rim is "Arrow Presents, 10 Nights In A Bar Room/Always A Full House." Underside has celluloid covering over a compartment holding a single ball bearing which rolls around and lands on one of six designations reading for example "One Pair" up to "Full House." Tiny maker's text on outer edge is "Pioneer 'On The Level' Spinners/Patent Pending." This classic story of the evils of alcohol appeared as a 1913 documentary, a 1922 silent feature and a sound movie in 1931. We are pretty certain this piece dates from the 1922 movie picturing stars Baby Ivy Ward and John Lowell. Superb condition, essentially Mint. First we've seen.
