Item Description
March 15, 1941 issue has Shadow battling the Ku Klux Klan. Lt. handling wear, tiny chips and tears to top and bottom of spine. Second page (letters page) is loose. VG/Fine. Comes w/.75" silver/brass lapel stud w/threaded post and cap reverse. Issued by Street & Smith, publishers of "The Shadow." Moderate luster loss. Fine. It is in the issue included in this lot that a young Edward G. Nickerson wrote in to the "Pulse Of The Nation" letters page and had his letter printed. In this letter he notes that he has decided to join The Shadow Club and has enclosed 10¢ in order to obtain the very stud that is included w/this pulp. Consignor visited Mr. Nickerson in the 1990s, Nickerson was still living at his childhood home and our consignor bought the very same lapel stud from him. Pulp and stud come w/photo of Mr. Nickerson holding this issue. Great provenance and back story.
