Item Description
DC Comics. Sep./Oct., 1944. Classic cover features Superman, Lois Lane and Clark Kent. Issue includes several firsts for Superman. His annoying villain Mr. Mxyztplk (alternately spelled Mxyzptlk) makes his first appearance; Superman shows weakness to magic for the first time and Superman flies for the first time. Prior to this, Superman was only able to leap "Tall Buildings In A Single Bound." When Fleischer Studio, producer of the Superman cartoons felt flying would look better, Superman began to fly in his comic book adventures as well. Issue has handling wear with slight staple pulls and staple oxidation as well as a .5" chip to cover at spine and soiling at top half of front cover. Good/VG. Great classic Golden Age Superman issue.
