Item Description
12.25" tall resin-like statue depicting Ava Gardner as seen in the 1948 film "One Touch Of Venus" which was adapted from the successful 1943-1945 Broadway musical. Storyline deals with a statue of the goddess Venus being found and placed on display in a museum in New York City. The ensuing plot device has a barber placing a ring on the finger of the statue, bringing it to life and creating the expected difficulties. Ava Gardner played Venus and during pre-production for the film, she was sent to sculptor Joseph Nicolosi to pose for her statue likeness. This smaller version of said statue is part of a very limited edition that commissioned by Universal and sent to theater owners and press members as a promotional item. Nice detail with only the lightest trace of wear. Exc. Rare. The only other example of this statue that we have seen sold for $900. From the Mariano Lucca Collection.
