Item Description
8.5x12”. 84 pages. ©1929. Book consists of 82 sketches from the same number of Minneapolis, MN golfers. Foreword text “Most Of The Gentlemen Whose Caricatures Appear In This Book Are, It Seems To Us, Remarkably Complacent And Noticeably Intelligent, For They Seem To Know That One Should Not Expect A Twenty Minutes Sketch Of Himself To Equal In All Respect An Oil Portrait For Which He Would Have To Give Perhaps A Dozen Long Sittings And Much Kale…We Have Made Slight Mention Of Our Victims Golf. In The First Place, We Don’t Know Anything About It, In Most Instances, And, In The Second And Third Places, We Feel That It Is Safer To Josh Men About Almost Anything Else.” The Mini Kahda Club was established in 1898 when the key founding fathers, C.T. Jaffray, a powerful and respected financial figure in Minneapolis, Martin Koon, William Edgar, Walter Tiffany and Harry Thayer started the club. Jaffray was the president of the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad (SOO Railway) from 1924-1937. He and his sons are included in this sketch book. Other sketches depict Minneapolis area notables/members of the club. Each sketch is done by Frank Wing as identified on each. Printed by Augsburg Publishing House. Margin wear/aging on covers. VG.
