Item Description
Two tin wind-up toys with two 4x5x11.5" tall boxes. ©1930 Correll - Gosden. Each box has illustration of Amos/Andy character repeated on each side. Made by Marx. Top of each box reads "Amos/Andy In Person." Text is repeated on bottom flap. Both boxes have some inside reinforcement/restoration Andy box has Xeroxed bottom flap replacement. Single boxed examples of these toys are Rare. Finding both toys boxed in matching condition, even rarer. Boxes still display Fine. 11.5" tall tin litho toys have built-in key. These toys were designed both with and without moving eyes. These are stationery eyes. Toys work and upper bodies rocks side-to-side as they walk forward. Arms swing freely at sides. Andy wears badge on vest "Andrew Brown F.A.T.C. President." Amos has badge on vest "F.A.T.C. Amos Driver." Tiny (barely noticeable scratch on this text). Below badge a "Bank Book" is seen in vest pocket. Backs of each read "Original And Genuine Authorized 'Amos/Andy' Genuine Facsimile Signature Copyrighted Correll & Gosden 1930/Made By Louis Marx & Co. New York U.S.A." A few tiny paint rubs on Amos' shoulder/pants seat. Barely noticeable. Andy shows even less wear. A wonderful pair with matching boxes. Exc. From the Carl Lobel Collection.
