Item Description
This rare piece by W&H features a 2.75" cello atop three layers of felt, the largest 3.5", which serve to wipe pen points. There is a fairly deep 3/8" hairline scratch across "Pears'" but showing hardly at all unless caught in reflected light. The piece still displays essentially Mint. This is one of only 2 examples we've seen. The image is of an old woman scrubbing behind a young boy's ears with caption along bottom edge "You Dirty Boy." The edge of the celluloid reads "Pen Wiper Made By The Whitehead & Hoag Co." plus their Newark address and "Pat. Applied For." One felt has small 1/8" tear but the fabric remains in place and does not show at all from the front. From the Hake Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
