Item Description
16x20.25" paper poster from 1931. Folded as issued, most likely included in a promotional kit to movie theater owners. Marked on bottom margin "Sample Window Card." This sample was to be taken by a movie theater owner to a printer to have quantity printed on cardboard (as window cards were) and used for their promotion. Each theater would have their own name added to the examples they had printed, this example has sample imprint of "Texas Theater Palestine, Texas." Text at top reads "Announcing The Inauguration Of The Mickey Mouse Club." These posters had limited one-time use for forming the club. Additional text reads "A Special Matinee For Kiddies Every Saturday Starting Jan. 9 At 10 O'clock AM/Mickey Says - I'll Be There/Minnie Says - Yoo Hoo-Me Too/Hurry! Get Your Membership Card And Button Free/Join The Fun/Entertainment-Games-Contests-Stunts-Prizes-Selected Pictures." Each corner features different image, two of Mickey and two of Minnie. Right/left borders feature text "For Boys And Girls" and the letters feature a total of 19 different images of Mickey in expressive poses as if balancing on, hanging from, holding up the letters. Slightest trace of aging, very light trace of wear along fold lines and margins. Top center fold line has 1.5" tear with clear tape repair to the reverse. Poster remains totally bright and clean. VF. An incredible item for this famous club, the only example we've ever offered in our 42 years.
