Auction #197 - Part II
Item numbers 992 through 2667 in auction 197
Item Description
1.5" button with near exact likeness of Alfred E. Newman as depicted for MAD Magazine. The only other text on the button is "Superior - 1941," although we don't know the meaning of this inscription. Button has no backpaper as issued and no maker's name. One of only 3 examples we've encountered in 43 years. Exceedingly minor surface wear under magnification. Button is Exc. and displays Mint. Comes with Hake's COA. Also see previous item and Comfort Soap button #470. Our last example of this button exceeded $600.
