Item Description
First is the earliest 1-3/8" litho pinback "Member" button in the "Dick Tracy Secret Service Patrol." The following six brass pieces all have this wording included as part of their inscriptions. Pinback has small traces of wear but still displays VF. Quaker soon replaced this with an embossed star-shaped badge 1-3/8" tall reading "Member." This example is essentially Mint. The next higher rank is the same badge but with added chevron at the bottom so this reads "Second Year Member." Has about 50% luster. Next in rank and much larger is the 2.75" "Sergeant" badge which has outstanding, N. Mint luster. This was followed by silvered brass "Lieutenant" badge. A little loss of the silver luster but vast majority remains. The next higher rank is the beautiful "Captain" badge which has the star design encircled by a wreath. This has N. Mint luster. This and the following "Inspector General" badge are about the two largest and most impressive club badges ever produced. These two are each 2.75" in dia. On this, a spread-winged eagle perches above the panel bearing the "Inspector General" rank. Many members had to be recruited to obtain these high rank badges. This has very slight luster loss over the central star design but metal surfaces are clean and probably about 75% luster remains. The only Quaker issued badge not included in this group is the rare but rather simply designed brass bar pin reading "Patrol Leader." A very nice group that would make a great framed display.
