Item Description
This brass adjustable ring has no text on the top which shows a profile of a young woman with partial circle of star accents. She is wearing a helmet very much like that worn by Wilma Deering of Buck Rogers and certainly not something worn by an airline hostess in the 1930s. We suspect perhaps this ring was produced on speculation for the Dille Co. but rejected and then sold to a different advertiser. The ring is identified in newspaper ads as picturing aviation hostess Rosalie Gimple and offered by the sponsor Pabst-ette Cheese. Adjustable bands have been rather compressed to a small ring size #3 but they are totally smooth with no kinks. Each side of the ring features a single wing design. The hostess's facsimile signature is stamped into the end of one prong. This area is missing a little of the bright original luster but the ring retains about 90% original luster. Underside of the ring has text "Robbins Co./Attleboro." This firm produced many radio premiums in the 1930s. Only the third example we've been able to offer in 4 decades. Exc.
