Auction #197 - Part II
Item numbers 992 through 2667 in auction 197
Item Description
9.5" long by 5" tall painted and plated cast iron. Early 1930s. Toy is marked on underside of frame "Kenton Toys Kenton Ohio." Beautifully designed toy. When crank is turned, link chains operate group of buckets. Toy has nice color combination including gold raised lettering on both sides of framework "Buckeye Ditcher." Additional link chains to represent tracks mounted on wheels are meant to revolve as toy is pushed along. Toy came in several versions, this is one of the earliest ones. Thin metal buckets have a bit of oxidation but rest of toy is in Exc. condition with just a bit of paint chipping around bottom of frame base. Still for this type and age of toy that was meant to be played with outside, it is in optimal condition.
