Item Description
8.5x11" promotional issue for prospective television program sponsors and merchandise licensees. 1954. Binder cover consists of clear plastic front, textured stiff paper back, contents have ring binder holes and are held in place by brass clips. Front cover which features Sgt. Preston "Official Seal" reads "Kid Stuff Is Good Business - Now In Production For Television." Includes name and address for "Eastern Representative" and television/radio producers "Trendle-Campbell-Meurer Inc." This is followed by eight pages of text detailing and promoting many different aspects of Sgt. Preston including popularity, merchandising, product promotion, etc. Text includes mention of Sgt. Preston items such as "Mountie Suits, Holsters, Hats, Buttons, Badges," etc., and notes advertisers such as General Mills and Quaker Oats. There is one page on George W. Trendle, creator of not only Sgt. Preston but The Lone Ranger and Green Hornet as well. Includes a reference to all of these programs. After these text pages is a glossy photo w/illustration of Sgt. Preston and Yukon King. This is followed by an ad proof for trade publication promoting "Merchandise Licenses" and featuring same Preston and Yukon illustration as the preceding photo. Text includes "The Producers Of The Lone Ranger Make Available For Merchandise Licensees Another Smash Hit Show With Wide Juvenile Appeal" and includes a list of products and their makers. This sheet has lightly tanned. Final item is a complete copy of "Sgt. Preston Of The Yukon" Dell comic book #419 from Aug./Oct., 1952. Spine has been hole punched so it could be included as part of this binder and contents have tanned but it remains a clean copy. The front cover sheet has overall scattered faint age spotting, other text pages remain clean. Overall Fine-VF. An exceptional promotional item, the only example we've seen in our 42 years.
