Item Description
Complete set of 6, each about 5.5x8.5" stiff paper w/character face on front and bw back w/additional character illustration and instructions. Masks are - Goofy Grape, Loud Mouth Lime, Rootin' Tootin' Raspberry, Freckle Face Strawberry, Injun Orange, Chinese Cherry. c. 1964. The orange and cherry characters were changed shortly after their introduction due to complaints from ethnic groups. Each has a pair of die-cut circle pieces at eyes that were meant to be punched out. Grape, raspberry and orange have both original punch-out circles intact. The other 3 masks are all complete w/pair of circles although one or both are replacements from other masks for display purposes, essentially indistinguishable. Each also has a tiny pair of die-cut circle pieces on right and left sides that were to be punched out for string attachment. Grape, strawberry and lime are missing both of these, cherry has one of two, others are intact. One of the top leaf tips on strawberry mask and hat brim of raspberry have tiny bends which are only noticeable when viewed closely. Still a N. Mint set. This is a file copy from the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and is accompanied by a signed letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
