Item Description
c. 1935. 1930s aviation personality Mattern is best remembered for his Aug. 3, 1933 solo flight around he world. First seen quality wrist watch has only minor wear on brown leather strap. 1.25" chrome case holds gold-colored dial with maker's name and "Allproof." Includes second wheel and has kept time over 24 hours. Chromed case reverse reads in large text at center "PRIZE AWARD" with small rim text "Jimmie Mattern Round The World Model - The Pure Oil Co. U.S.A." Exc. Rare and only example we know of.
