Item Description
Oversized card is 9.25x12.25" issued in Dec. 1945. This was sent to distributors and retailers. The textured stiff paper cover has large title on front "In Appreciation." On inside front is tipped-in photograph of J. Warren Bowman sitting behind his desk. This is followed by four stiff paper pages w/title "A Personal Greeting From J. Warren Bowman." Text notes that he began the business in 1928 and he notes that "The Original Penny Bubble Gum Blony" which was not produced during wartime would now be available again "Better Than Ever For All The Jobbers And Dealers Who Have Shared In Its Success." Text continues "Such picture card gums as Wild West and Horrors of War, which pleased the trade and millions of child customers, are to be followed by worthy successors in the days ahead." On the two center pages are example illustrations of both Wild West and Horrors of War gum card packs. Additional text notes that the Bowman factory helped in the production of war material and then mentions three new "Flavor Sensations Mint Cocktail, Fruit Cocktail And Cin-A-Mint." On the final page are example packs of these three new gum products plus illustration of the Bowman Gum Inc. Philadelphia, Pa. factory. Final page text includes mention of Christmas "In The Spirit Of The Season" as well as a personal thank you from Bowman w/his facsimile signature. Has trace of staple rust but the four inside pages remain totally clean. Front and back covers have some tiny scattered surface paper rubs, mostly along edges. Overall still VF. A very interesting Bowman-related item. The only other time we offered this item in our 42 years it sold for $847.
