Item Description
2.75x3.5" cloth-bound hardcover case w/metal clasp holds 31 2.25x3.25" cards, each w/different brown illustration of one of Palmer Cox's Brownies w/name or activity beneath. Cards are single-sided and a possible Old Maid-style set w/some cards missing. Unmarked but c. late 1800s-early 1900s. Some cards/Brownies of note include Chinaman, Dude, Policeman, Miss Brownie, King Pin, Tam-O-Shanter, Indian, Sailor, German and Turk. Some of the activities shown include baseball, ice skating, tennis and gymnastics. Cards have varying degrees of wear but most are evenly aged. A few have .25" corner slivers off, one card having moisture stain covering 40% of card front. VG-Fine overall. Comes w/vintage and likely as issued case which has heavy wear to interior w/exterior missing most of its flocking to cloth cover. VG overall. Scarce.
