6.5x10.25" w/32 pages ©UFS c. 1948-1949. Book was sent to "Fleet-Wing" gas station operators in Ohio to announce and promote a premium glass campaign. The main idea was to give customers who spent $10.00 over a two month period on services and merchandise a set of 8 Shmoo glasses. Cover depicts 2 Shmoos w/fishing rod on their heads balancing a third smaller Shmoo w/Abner artist and creator Al Capp's signature below. These glasses were a popular promotion and are readily available, however, we have never seen any of the other promotional items listed and shown here which include 9' high cut-out of Daisy Mae w/Shmoo who holds banner reading "Shmoo Glasses." Daisy says "It's Your Changin' Time Again!" as she holds up a Shmoo shaped long underwear suit w/"Fleet-Wing" gas company name on it. Another item shown is 3x8' cloth banner w/portrait of Daisy Mae and "It's Changin' Time - Anniversary - Shmoo Glasses Given" text. Also advertised are pump panels showing Li'l Abner running and text "Hurry! Winter's Coming - Change Now!" Shmoo window posters and pennants are also mentioned as are two 25x38" window streamers featuring Shmoo and Honest Abe Yokum. Shmoo glasses are further shown on images of hand-outs and newspaper ad examples. Rest of booklet is comprised of ads for various Fleet-Wing products, each w/either graphic or Shmoo glass or Daisy Mae. Center page is loose at top staple, staples having some rust soiling. Lt. handling wear to covers, pinch creases at spine. VF. Rare and certainly the nicest, most graphic Shmoo promotional item we've seen in our 42 years.
