Item Description
Pair of 1950s/1960s boxed toys from Japan. Wind-up mechanism with built-in key. The “Monkey Car” is 5.75” long tin litho nicely detailed including monkey as the train’s engineer complete with separate flag held in one hand, car has images of children at windows, bell attached to back. One boy shown as baseball player holding bat. Toy works and travels around as the monkey moves his arm holding the flag and bell rings. Box has corner dents, lid has pair of corner splits. Fine. Toy has minute scattered paint nicks. Exc. The “Circus Loco” is 5” long friction toy in tin litho featuring illustrations of clowns, circus monkey and dog. Works and designed with “Bobbing Smoke Stack.” Box Exc., toy N. Mint. Nice pair.
