Item Description
4.5" tall depicting Mickey standing next to a wire basket refuse can. 1930s. Front of base has his incised name, back is marked "Made In Japan" plus incised "A567." An equally rare matching Minnie was also produced as "A570." An interesting production error is the fact that the incised copyright name on back is for "Percy Crosby," (Skippy creator) rather than Walt Disney as the factory also produced Skippy bisques. Underside has about 80% of original paper label. Mickey's pants, shoes and some areas of his body have been neatly repainted in correct colors. The color tone varies on the can and base but we largely think paint is original. A few tiny traces of paint wear, most noticeable on outer edges of ears but appearance remains clean. Still displays Exc. One of the rarest Disney bisques of the 1930s. This is the actual example shown in The Official Price Guide to Disney Collectibles by Ted Hake and comes w/COA. Listed w/value in Fine of $600, Near Mint $1250.
