Item Description
19.5” dia. by 5.5” tall tin litho drum with stiff paper “skin.” Drum head has caricature image of comical big band bandleader Jones, the “I” in his name being a large spike. Two other “Spikes” appear on drum with musical notes and exploding clouds. By Colmar, c. 1940s. The “Junior” is a reference to Jones’ band “The City Slickers.” Jones wears a loud zoot suit-like ensemble conducting with baton and boxing glove-clad hands. About 10 small 1/8” to .75” puncture marks to drum head really only noticeable when viewed closely. These do not affect integrity of drum head, which remains tight. Scattered staining around edge from metal interior rim. Tin litho symbol attached to back of linen drum head. Fine overall. Displays Fine/VF. Rare.
