Pair of near identical 11.25” tall painted plaster figural statues of Popeye on 4x5.5” ashtray bases. c. 1930s. Nice design with Popeye smoking pipe and incised anchor tattoos on his forearm. More faithful color representation has dark sparkle accents on Popeye’s hat brim, collar, buttons, wrist, hem of shirt and pants. Nice rosy accents on chin, elbows and hand. Scattered paint rubs/flakes along base but still glossy and VF. Second statue/ashtray shows Popeye with a more orange skin tone and shows moderate/heavy paint wear. VG.
