Item Description
16x22.5" w/eight pages. New York Herald dated Sun., April 16, 1865. Assassination was first reported in N.Y. Herald Sat., April 15 in at least four editions. This paper is from following day. Headlines on left include "Our Loss/The Great National Calamity/Death Of The President/Sad Details Of The Terrible Event/The Last Moments Of The President/Scene At The Deathbed/The Life And Services Of Mr. Lincoln/Identification Of The Murderer/John Wilkes Booth The Assassin." The entire left column continues w/headlines including "Inauguration Of Andrew Johnson As President/The Cabinet Unchanged/The Plot Of The Assassin." Paper came out of a bound volume but just very trivial wear traces on spine edge. Lightly toned w/age. Folded as issued. Overall Fine.
