Item Description
Marx produced a number of different Davy/Alamo playsets, this is #3540. c. 1955. Lt. box wear but remains tight and clean. VF. Set is unused old store stock and complete as issued but with one notable factory change. Rather than having a pair of wheeled firing cannons and 2 sprues of shells, it comes with a WWII anti-aircraft gun and sprue of projectiles. We have seen this factory switch-up done in other Davy playsets. Set features tin litho chapel with top piece (never assembled), Davy Crockett figure, 10 Mexicans in metallic blue, 20 pioneers in silver and tan, 6 horses, miscellaneous hard plastic accessories, etc. Also complete with instruction sheet (aged and with some tears), 4-page story of Alamo booklet and 8.5x11” facsimile-signed photo of Fess Parker as Davy. Comes with original bags (these show wear with tears) as well as cardboard divider. Overall set is Exc. to Mint and as issued. A choice example of this classic playset.
