Auction #199 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 972 in auction 199
Item Description
2.75”. No maker’s name but tiny “Copyright 1910” along the bottom edge. Upper left edge has tiny 1/32” darker indent dot in the celluloid. Rest of the celluloid displays bright and clean with just a trivial trace of stain on the underside by the collet. Mirror has a little silvering imperfection at one end but nothing major. Wonderful cartoon image of sailor boy attempting to stand on flaming deck with one foot as he clutches bread loaf under one arm and eats a slice with his other hand. Verse is “The Boy Stood On The Burning Deck, Eating Good Mother’s Bread/He Heard The Roaring Of The Flames; When Gallantly He Said/’For Goodness Sake’ I’ll Eat It Till I’m Dead.” Rare and about the third example we’ve seen in 4 decades.
