Item Description
In May 1939, the first issue of Wonder Comics included a WonderMan story by Will Eisner. This proved to be the character’s only appearance as a result of a lawsuit claiming the character infringed on Superman. The comic book carries an ad for a ring and we believe this is the ring offered, although we have never actually seen the comic book ad. In the third edition of the Overstreet ring guide, he shows a ring with the same band design as this one and with the same initial on the ring being a letter “H.” We’ve also seen a version of the ring with an initial “B.” Likely these rings were designed so that the person ordering could request their preferred initial. Ring is brass with adjustable bands and with black enamel paint accent on the bkgs. This is an outstanding example with nearly all the brass accent paint intact and with very nice brass tone on the unpainted areas. About half a dozen examples are known in the ring collecting hobby.
