Item Description
4x9x4.5" tall tin litho car comes in box illustrated on all sides. 1950s. Four side panels include illustration of car traveling along including passing by "Dunruaming University." Box has overall scattered traces of dark moisture staining although most of this blends w/artwork. One side panel also has a 4" tear running vertically from top to bottom. Still tight for display, strong color and VG. The car's body is covered w/different off-beat slang and phrases such as "Kilroy Wasn't Here, Just Huntin' Dear, Campus Express Hop Inn, Blondes Only, 23 Skiddoo, Mr. Hound Dog/Capacity 5 Gals," etc. Also includes images on back of car of college pennant, lantern and golf bag w/clubs. Has separate tin driver figure behind steering wheel. Attached to grille is crank which produces a clicking sound when turned. Friction mechanism works. Sparks were once visible through diecut slots on either side of the hood although car no longer sparks as flint is missing. Car has scattered minor paint nicks and scratches but remains totally bright and glossy. Appearance is Exc. Numerous jalopies were produced in the 1950s and this is one of the nicest models.
