Item Description
19.5x25.5” with metal support strips at top and bottom plus slightly worn cardboard loop for hanging. Undated, but known to be from 1953 as original owner brought it back from a bird study visit to Churchill, Manitoba on the shores of Hudson Bay. Map is titled “Historic Trading Posts And Territories Of The Governor & Company Of Adventurers Of England Trading Into Hudson’s Bay.” Wonderful color and incredibly detailed with captions as early as “John Cabot Discovers Newfoundland 1497” to as late as “1947 Last Canoe Brigade.” “Legend” includes “Hudson Bay Company Posts” including those “Now HBC Retail Store,” the likely issuer of this outstanding map. Tiny age traces on metal strips and half dozen exceedingly minor tan age dots, but overall condition is extremely Fine. Only example we’ve seen.
