Item Description
The largest campaign ribbon we are aware of and one beautifully designed with special touches. Size is a huge 4x10”. Accents include separate sewed-on pink and beige accent ribbons at the top. Left and right edges have tiny scallop-shaped accents of very fine threads about 90% intact. The main body over the ribbon features six accent stripes in the fabric which run vertically. The only defects are very minor: slight irregularity across top and bottom extreme edges; tiny and light .5x1” tan mark by lady at left edge; pair of 1/16” and 3/8” thread separations barely showing on blank area about .5” up from very bottom edge. Numerous images include Clay portrait at center plus ship, eagle on shield, 3 female figures, farmer with plow and horses and dog’s head with tiny text “Fidelity” below. Text reads “Young Men’s/Whig National/Convention Of Ratification/Henry Clay/The Tried Friend Of His Country/The Farmer Of Ashland/Held In Baltimore/May 2nd, 1844” with very tiny text below naming the Baltimore engraver John Medairy. An exceptional ribbon in extremely Fine condition.
