Item Description
14x17” stiff cardboard sign promoting the “Gang Busters” radio show sponsored by Waterman’s pens, inks and pencils. c. 1945-1948 as these are the only years that Waterman’s sponsored this show which began in 1936. The show went on to broadcast on radio stations for the next 21 years and the radio series based on case files of the FBI and local police proved so popular it even spawned a film in 1954. Phillips H. Lord was the creator of this long-running show and a bw photo portrait of him is featured on the sign. Bottom marquee of sign reads “Every Saturday Night American Broadcasting Co.” and lists what time the show ran in different time zones in America. Sign has obvious wear with corner rounding and four .75-1” yellowed strips of tape at each corner. Pinholes at top and bottom margins. VG-. Rare and first we’ve seen. (See "Gang Busters" holster #2573).
