Item Description
Trio of 17” tall dolls. c. 1950s. Unmarked but by National Mask & Puppet. Pliable rubber heads with painted features. Each doll head is detailed, slightly caricatured depiction of Groucho, Harpo and Chico Marx, each wearing a distinctive hat - Groucho wears small deerstalker, Chico wears his distinct cap and Harpo wears his tiny crooked top hat. Stuffed cloth bodies. Lt. surface dust to bodies, but dolls remain sturdy with movable legs and arms. Harpo has .5” tear to top of shirt and Chico's coat is slightly faded. Groucho’s undershirt has sewing repair and his tuxedo is slightly faded. Bodies are Fine-VF overall. Harpo’s head has moderate paint wear to hair/hat. Groucho has paint wear to eyebrows. Fine-VF. Chico has .25x.75” hole at top of head with stuffing showing through. 1.5” dia. area of rubber degradation/wear. VG. All heads remain pliable. These dolls are scarce on their own and even more so as a complete set. Our most recent offered single doll (Groucho) realized almost $1,000 alone.
