Item Description
3.5x3.5x8" tall tin litho windup w/built-in key comes in box w/nicely illustrated lid. 1950s by Alps, Japan. Lid features image on top of "Bozo" clown (not the character clown but name was obviously ripped off for this toy) while two side panels steal P.T. Barnum's phrase "The Greatest Show On Earth" and feature images of animal trainer and lion. Box shows st. aging but Exc. Toy depicts clown in elaborate outfit and attached at waist are a pair of tin litho drums. He holds drumsticks. One drum head has stars while the other has clown portrait. He wears a hat w/stars and stripes, oversized bow tie, pocket watch hangs from his jacket, front of one shoe has a comical bee. Has life-like hair accent attachment. Toy works and he rocks back and forth while playing the drums. Minute scattered paint marks but as produced. N. Mint. One of the nicer clown windups we've seen.
