Item Description
This toy is c. 1954 and an updated version of the classic Honeymoon Express windup. Tin litho w/"Plastic Tunnel" 9.25" dia. w/height of 1.75". Toy comes in box nicely illustrated on all sides. Images include subway train, passengers, city scene. Box has scattered edge wear, back panel has 1" puncture at center and small 1" long stock number sticker along right. Appearance is clean, Fine overall. Toy features great detailed lithography w/outer rim depicting different vehicles, buildings, etc. Front has simulated banner reading "Subway Express." Top of toy is overhead view showing parking area w/cars. At center is building reading "42nd Street" and shows windows of drugstore and barber shop. Under the clear plastic tunnel is 4" long tin litho subway train w/four individual cars reading "No. 6/U.S. Mail/Great Northern/Coach." The plastic tunnel has warped just the slightest bit so that the train is now stuck into position at top and does not travel around freely as it should. Appearance for display remains bright and Exc. Graphic and colorful windup.
