Auction #200 - Part II
Item numbers 1187 through 2776 in auction 200
Item Description
2" dia. metal case Ingraham pocket watch. ©1934 Fleischer Studios, Inc. Has incised design on back of case of Betty Boop with Bimbo and around them are pair of stars and crescent moon. Dial features image of Betty seated atop the second hand dial, her animated arms functioning as watch hands. All-over surface wear to dial which has tiny paint nicks and scratches. These nicks/scratches are mostly to the bkg., Betty Boop image remains mostly unaffected and remains bold and distinct. Minor luster wear to case, tiny 1/16" spot below Betty's leg. Near full luster remains. Case is VF. Dial is VG but Betty Boop image remains Exc. St. warp to crystal but remains firmly intact. Watch works but would benefit from a routine cleaning. Comes with 2-5/8x3x5/8" deep original box. Lid has great Betty Boop image and is complete with original insert. Box has all corners split and .5" circle of glue staining between Betty Boop's name and Betty's ear. .25" area of surface paper lift in upper left corner of box. Good overall. One of the rarest and most desirable comic character timepieces, only a few boxed examples are known to exist. The only other example of this watch (without a box and in lesser condition) we have ever offered sold for $4,600. From the Jerry Howell Jr. Collection.
