Text “1776/1908/The Canopy Autocrat/Jazz H. Col. James H. Sprague volunteered at age of 14 in the 19th New York Volunteers. Was in Battle of Bull Run. Became a guard at the White House after six months entered the Secret Service. He was taken prisoner in South Carolina during the Civil War. Three weeks later he escaped. He was mustered out of service at Charleston, South Carolina. No doubt a spectacular 4-hour celebration was planned and hosted by the Colonel. Slightest trace of wear at folds. Colors remain bright and clean. Exc.
