Item Description
Lot consists of eight comics published quarterly by Timely Comics from Winter 1942-1943 through Winter 1946. Includes #1-8. Stories deal w/Catwoman-like heroine fighting evil. She is shown on each cover swinging down to attack various villains. She is depicted attacking gangsters, Nazis, Japanese, jewel thieves and spies. First issue she is depicted without the cape that she later wore. Books consist of newspaper strip reprints. #1 is missing pin-ups, has a 1" tape repair to spine, some color rubs at top left margin. Top of first page has penciled writing "Steal Not This Book, For Fear Of Shame, For Here I Write, The Owner's Name, Bunnie Cook." Fair w/Good appearance. #2 has moderate corner tip wear consisting of chipping to cover and pages, pages are somewhat brittle, staples have been replaced at top and bottom staple is missing. Heavy tape reinforcement. Fair. #3 has had staples replaced and tape reinforcement at center fold staples. VG. #4 has some cover fading and is missing pin-ups. 1" area of tape reinforcement at spine, some surface paper lifting at spine. Fair w/Good appearance. #5 has tanned pages, a 1" tape repair to spine, pinch creases and dust soiling. VG. #6 has some pinch creases and foxing to edges. Fine. #7 has some pinch creases to spine, very minor aging to pages. VF. #8 has tape repairs to spine, heavy handling wear, moderate dust soiling and fading to cover. Borders of pages have moderate tanning. Good.
