Item Description
Large 2-1/8” superb button made by process utilized briefly c. 1915 by W&H Co. Image is of orange poppies, red poinsettia, green bkg. leaves and orange fruit on very deep green bkg. with the lettering in reflective gold and including “County Of Fruit And Flowers.” The incredible iridescent colors have glowing quality from this process which used colored foil papers beneath the celluloid covering and over the design embossed backing metal. While this example is missing the backpaper which names the process, the button itself is in Exc. condition and displays Mint. We’ve seen only 5 designs that used this process due to its high cost. Two more of those designs are movie serial buttons items #1332-1333. Scarce.
