Item Description
Smallest is 11/16” litho reading “Coordinating Council For Czechoslovak Democracy/Defend Democracy.” Second is 13/16” litho issued for “Czechoslovak Day Festival/July 2, 1939/Randall’s Island Stadium/New York City.” Third is 7/8” cello “Save Czechoslovakia.” This has air mark on the right side but o/w all 3 items display Mint. In March, 1939 the Germans occupied Prague. The pavilion at the New York World’s Fair became a symbol of Czech resistance to Nazi domination. Mayor LaGuardia set up a “Citizens Committee” to raise money to complete the Czechoslovakia Pavilion and exhibits. Also see NYWF 1939 buttons relating to Poland items #694-695. Comes with Hake’s COA.
