Item Description
2.25” with metal back and bar pin. Button is from Stockton, CA firm with text reading “Pollock-Stockton Shipbuilding Co./Launching/25/Crew/March 22, 1944” followed by the name of the ship. This was a Ailanthus-Class net laying ship which after launch headed to Pearl Harbor and then operated in the Pacific Ocean theater of operations. The ship was attacked near Okinawa by enemy suicide planes but it managed to return safely home after the war bearing one battle scar. White bkg. has a few faint gray marks but detracting very little. Still with full gloss. See previous and next related items.
