Item Description
Overall size is 3.5x8x8.5” tall. By Masudaya, Japan. 1930s. In kneeling position holding rifle and wearing uniform that includes helmet with gold star. Detailed with ammo belt that has canteen and sword, backpack. Toy works and soldier raises and lowers gun as if firing while head nods. As produced, a pair of sturdy metal staples on either side of lower body were used to hold the inner mechanism in place. At staple on right side is touch-up which appears to be factory done. At staple on left side are a pair of .25” cracks with cello piece pushed in slightly but all intact and none of this affects operation. Toy has a few small scattered indents but appearance remains exceptionally bright and clean. Back bottom right edge of backpack has a .25” hairline only noticeable when viewed closely. Works perfectly and still displays VF. A very impressive celluloid toy.
