Item Description
2.25” button by N.G. Slater produced from art with center image of stylized bird apparently representing The Raven, the poem which Poe wrote while living in a farmhouse on what became West 84th St. in New York City. Residents of this street over the years have conducted various block parties and text on this button reads below the “Peter Max” name “West 84th Block Assoc.” Button is difficult to date but we would estimate mid-1980s to 1990s. Only example we’ve seen and in Mint condition. A very limited issue and certainly among the rarest of the Peter Max-designed buttons which date back to the 1960s. Rare.
