Item Description
Last auction we offered a color variety of this item and it sold for $4,035. 3.5x4x4” tall painted cast metal depicting Mickey comfortably resting in a chair. His hands are outstretched, legs crossed and his tail drapes around the back of the chair. Raised text on body includes his name and Disney copyright. This is variety with yellow pants and red buttons (last auction we offered variety with red pants and blue buttons). From a c. 1932 exceptional series of Mickey and Minnie metal figures, some of which were designed as useful objects such as ashtrays, playing card containers, banks, etc. (see item #2043). Underside of base has number etched in the metal, inside of chair has etched name. .5” area around Mickey’s left elbow with bare metal showing. Other small scattered paint flakes but overall about 95% paint remains. Fine. All items in this series are scarce and this particular figure is among the most sought-after. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
