Item Description
18x18x1” deep box contains nearly complete set by Marks Bros. Co. c. 1934. Lid illustration of Mickey and Minnie using this set with smaller inset image of young boy and girl painting/drawing pictures of Mickey. Lid has 8.5” long tear at top right with neat glue repair to interior although tear lines still somewhat visible. Lower right corner has 1” professionally replaced edge piece plus small color touch-up. Lid has other scattered edge wear and trace of dust soiling but color remains strong and graphics are bold. VG/Fine. Set itself is missing just 2 of the 4 crayons. Two crayons that remain have Mickey Mouse labels. Attached to insert is the metal pantograph arm used in conjunction with picture cards to reproduce the images in tracing style. Comes with 6 different cards to be used for this purpose with titles “The Mickey Mouse Express, Minnie Mouse Plays Nurse Maid, Mickey Mouse The Mountain Climber, Mickey Mouse The Farmer, Mickey Mouse The Entertainer, Mickey Mouse Ski Jumping.” These cards were designed to be tacked to top center of box insert and 5 of the 6 have corner tack holes. Directly below this is the art tablet with cover sheet featuring the “Mickey Mouse Express” image. Sheets have been used including several with the Mickey example images, all nicely done in color. Has 5 unused paint tablets at top left. Contents show moderate wear and aging, some from use. Contents Fine. A superbly designed set and rarely found in this near complete state.
