Item Description
2-1/16x3-1/8” stiff card or canvas with grid of tiny holes for thread applied by needlepoint to form the text and image. Slogan is “That Same Old Coon” and the image is meant to represent a raccoon used by his Whig party to give the aristocratic Clay a more rustic, common man feel similar to what the log cabin achieved for William Henry Harrison in 1840. The animal’s head area has small black bead for an eye and the 4 legs hold the staff of a flag with the “HC” initials in brown on a blue flag. Canvas has a few faint tan marks and tiny dot off bottom right corner. A very rare and early campaign item with its own unique design. First we’ve ever offered. VF.
