Item Description
8.25x8.75" sheet of animation paper has 5.5x7" printed red outline and inside of this is the original art in lead pencil. A bit of the image does extend past the printed lines. Great image of Figaro reading a book and depicted w/fishing lure tied to his tail, next to him Cleo looks on from her fish bowl. Bottom margin of sheet has "Original WDP" ink stamp as well as imprint w/1939 copyright. Comes w/original 3.75x5.75" label w/gummed reverse noting that these story sketches were meant to "Represent The Translation Of Initial Creative Ideas Into Graphic Form" followed by the animation drawings and then painted cels. These story sketches were sold by Courvoisier Galleries and their name and address is printed at the bottom of the label. Label's gummed reverse remains unused but top margin has 1/8x2" strip missing partially removing text noting that the label could be removed and mounted on the back of a frame if purchaser desired to frame the piece. Top margin also has lt. crease. The animation paper has 1x1.5" triangular piece missing from top left corner, opposite corner has tape residue stain. Bottom margin has pair of .25" tears at animation holes. All could be easily matted out, sheet o/w remains clean and art is Exc. Great image and this story sketch is much scarcer than a pencil drawing from the film. From the Hake collection.
